Adam and Eve stand close together under the heavily laiden tree of knowledge with the serpent. Eve gives Adam the apple. They are surrounded by animals: a stag, a deer, a lion, two partridges and a hare and the background is filled with shrubbery.

DESCRIPTION

Tools/Materials:

- fluid, black medium and brush; possibly in combination with a dry drawing material, dark chalk

Type/Ductus:

- freehand underdrawing

- thin lines, in part delicate, fine lines

Function:

- only roughly binding for the final painted version; lines delineate contours and describe essential details; no representation of volume

Deviations:

- alterations made during the painting process to clearly define form; changes (e.g. the position of the feet and right arm of Eve)
