The painting depicts a bald-headed old man on the right and a young woman on the left, cheek to cheek, as knee-length figures against a black background. He embraces her around the waist and shoulder, while she strokes his cheek with her left hand and - unnoticed by him- grasps

The painting depicts a bald-headed old man on the right and a young woman on the left, cheek to cheek, as knee-length figures against a black background. He embraces her around the waist and shoulder, while she strokes his cheek with her left hand and - unnoticed by him- grasps into the purse on his belt with her right hand. She looks directly at the viewer making him complicit in this act.
